Developmental pluripotency associated 4 (DPPA4) is a crucial transcription factor involved in maintaining pluripotency in embryonic stem cells (ESCs). It is highly expressed in ESCs and plays a significant role in self-renewal and pluripotency sustainability. DPPA4 overexpression has been shown to inhibit differentiation and promote proliferation in ESCs by regulating genes involved in the G1/S transition and modulating chromatin structure. In cancer, DPPA4 is re-expressed in several malignant tumors, including colon cancer, and is identified as a new pluripotency-related oncogene. Its upregulation is correlated with poor prognosis and metastasis in colon cancer patients. DPPA4 primarily associates with active chromatin domains and influences chromatin modifications at target genes. |
