| 背景信息 | Forkhead box P4 (FOXP4) is a transcription factor gene that belongs to the forkhead box (FOX) family, specifically subfamily P. It is expressed in nearly all tissues, with the highest expression in the lungs and gut. FOXP4 plays a crucial role in the regulation of tissue- and cell type-specific gene transcription during development and adulthood. Variants in the FOXP4 gene have been associated with several diseases, including cancers, particularly lung cancer, and developmental disorders with speech/language delays. Recent studies have also identified FOXP4 as a risk factor for Long COVID, with genetic variants in the FOXP4 locus showing a significant association with the development of Long COVID, suggesting a broader role for lung function in its pathophysiology. |
