PHD finger protein 10 (PHF10), also known as BAF45A, is a nuclear component of the neural progenitor-specific BAF (npBAF) chromatin-remodeling complex. Containing two PHD zinc-finger domains, it regulates transcription and chromatin structure essential for the proliferation and self-renewal of neural progenitor cells. As neurons differentiate, PHF10 is replaced by homologous subunits in the nBAF complex. It also participates in DNA damage responses and homologous recombination. Clinically, PHF10 dysfunction is associated with intellectual developmental disorders and chromosome 6q deletion syndromes, while its overexpression supports cell proliferation in various cancers. |
