| 背景信息 | SEC16 homolog A, endoplasmic reticulum export factor (SEC16A) is a large peripheral membrane protein that serves as a primary molecular scaffold at endoplasmic reticulum exit sites (ERES). It plays a central role in organizing COPII-dependent vesicle budding and facilitating the export of proteins from the ER to the Golgi apparatus. SEC16A interacts with multiple COPII components to define the specific sites of vesicle formation and remains associated with ERES throughout the cell cycle, including mitosis. Beyond constitutive secretion, it participates in unconventional protein secretion under ER stress and contributes to growth factor-regulated secretory upscaling. In specialized cells like adipocytes, SEC16A is involved in the trafficking of specific cargos, such as GLUT4, through its interaction with RAB10, highlighting its importance in both general and regulated secretory pathways. |
