| 背景信息 | ELKS/RAB6-interacting/CAST family member 2 (ERC2) is a neuronal scaffold protein belonging to the RIM-binding protein family. It localizes to the cytomatrix at the active zone (CAZ) of presynaptic terminals, where it functions redundantly with RIM proteins to organize the neurotransmitter release machinery. As a core component of the active zone complex, ERC2 regulates vesicle docking, priming, and calcium channel coupling, ensuring efficient synaptic transmission. Dysregulation of ERC2 compromises synaptic fidelity and plasticity. While specific monogenic disease associations are less defined compared to other synaptic proteins, its central role in the active zone implicates it in the pathophysiology of neurodevelopmental and neurodegenerative disorders affecting synaptic communication. |
