| 背景信息 | Regulator of G protein signaling 14 (RGS14) is a multifunctional scaffolding protein that integrates G protein, Ras/Raf–MAPK/ERK, and calcium signaling pathways. It is primarily localized in the dendritic spines of hippocampal CA2 pyramidal neurons. Structurally, RGS14 contains an RGS domain, tandem Raf-like Ras-binding domains, and a GoLoco motif, allowing it to function as both a GTPase-activating protein and a GDP-dissociation inhibitor for Gαi/o subunits. By accelerating GTP hydrolysis and stabilizing the inactive GDP-bound state, it attenuates G protein-coupled receptor signaling. Functionally, RGS14 acts as a natural suppressor of synaptic plasticity and constrains hippocampus-dependent learning and memory, serving as a critical regulator of cognitive performance and neuronal signaling dynamics. |
