| 背景信息 | Stanniocalcin 2 (STC2) is a secreted, disulfide-linked homodimeric glycoprotein hormone that plays a role in mineral metabolism and cellular stress protection. It is widely expressed and localizes to both the secretory pathway and mitochondria, acting primarily through autocrine and paracrine mechanisms to regulate calcium and phosphate homeostasis. STC2 is subject to phosphorylation by casein kinase 2, which may modulate its activity. Functionally, it influences systemic growth, as evidenced by growth restriction and organomegaly in overexpression models. Clinically, STC2 is induced by hypoxia and nutrient deprivation and is frequently dysregulated in various cancers. In these contexts, it promotes tumor cell survival and adaptation to stress, and its altered expression is also associated with certain breast and vascular diseases. |
