| 背景信息 | Bone morphogenetic protein 15 (BMP15) is an oocyte-specific growth factor of the TGF-beta superfamily essential for ovarian follicular development. Secreted as a homodimer or a heterodimer with GDF9, BMP15 acts on granulosa cells to promote proliferation, regulate FSH sensitivity, and prevent premature luteinization. It is a critical determinant of ovulation rate and female fertility. Pathogenic variants in BMP15 that impair its secretion or activity are a significant cause of ovarian dysgenesis, premature ovarian insufficiency, and infertility. In some species, heterozygous mutations increase ovulation rate, while homozygous mutations lead to sterility, underscoring its dosage-dependent role in reproductive physiology. |
