| 背景信息 | Crystallin alpha B (CRYAB) is a small heat shock protein that functions as a molecular chaperone to maintain protein homeostasis under stress conditions such as heat shock, ischemia, or oxidation. It binds to misfolded proteins to prevent their aggregation without requiring ATP for renaturation. In the ocular lens, CRYAB forms large heteromeric complexes with alpha-A crystallin to maintain transparency and refractive index. Beyond its chaperone role, it exhibits autokinase activity, binds microtubules, and exerts anti-apoptotic effects by inhibiting caspase-3. CRYAB is widely expressed in non-ocular tissues, including cardiac and skeletal muscle. Mutations in the CRYAB gene are established causes of myofibrillar myopathies and desmin-related myopathy. Additionally, elevated levels of CRYAB are associated with protein aggregation in neurodegenerative diseases like Alzheimer's and Parkinson's. |
