| 背景信息 | Interleukin-4 (IL-4) is a multifunctional cytokine that plays a crucial role in regulating immune responses and inflammation. It is primarily produced by T helper 2 (Th2) cells, mast cells, eosinophils, and basophils. IL-4 has both pro-inflammatory and anti-inflammatory effects, depending on the context. In allergic diseases, IL-4 promotes inflammation by inducing IgE production, enhancing eosinophil recruitment, and stimulating mucus secretion. IL-4 exhibits anti-inflammatory properties by suppressing the production of pro-inflammatory cytokines like TNF-α and IL-1β in monocytes and macrophages. IL-4 also promotes the differentiation of naive T cells into Th2 cells, induces B cell class switching to IgE, and upregulates MHC class II production. In tissue repair and homeostasis, IL-4 drives the alternative activation of macrophages (M2 phenotype), which contribute to wound healing and resolution of inflammation. The complex interplay between IL-4's pro- and anti-inflammatory functions highlights its importance in maintaining immune balance and its potential as a therapeutic target in various inflammatory disorders. |
