| 背景信息 | Interleukin-6 (IL-6) is a pleiotropic cytokine that plays a crucial role in inflammation, immunity, and disease development. IL-6 is promptly and transiently produced in response to infections and tissue injuries, contributing to host defense through the stimulation of various immune responses. However, dysregulated and persistent IL-6 production can lead to the development of various diseases, including autoimmune and chronic inflammatory disorders such as rheumatoid arthritis, systemic lupus erythematosus, and Castleman's disease. Elevated levels of IL-6 have been associated with disease activity and severity in these conditions. The pathological role of IL-6 has been demonstrated in numerous animal models, and IL-6 blockade has shown therapeutic benefits in preventing or suppressing disease development. Targeting the IL-6 signaling pathway has emerged as a rational therapeutic approach for various autoimmune and inflammatory disorders. |
