| 背景信息 | Carbonic anhydrase 3 (CA3) is a cytosolic enzyme belonging to the carbonic anhydrase family, primarily expressed in skeletal muscle. It catalyzes the reversible hydration of carbon dioxide (CO₂) to bicarbonate and protons, contributing to pH regulation, ion transport, and possibly muscle contraction. With a molecular weight of ~29.5 kDa, CA3 exhibits lower catalytic activity compared to isoforms like CA2, attributed to structural differences in its active site. CA3 also acts as a scavenger of reactive carbonyl species under oxidative stress, suggesting a protective role. CA3 is linked to metabolic myopathies, including rhabdomyolysis and myoglobinuria, where mutations or deficiencies may impair muscle energy metabolism, exacerbating exercise-induced oxidative stress. Its dysregulation is associated with susceptibility to malignant hyperthermia and muscle degeneration, emphasizing its role in maintaining muscle homeostasis. |
