| 背景信息 | Microseminoprotein beta (Prostate Secretory Protein), also known as MSMB, is a small, disulfide-bonded protein and one of the most abundant components of human seminal fluid. Produced by prostate epithelial cells, MSMB functions as a regulator of epithelial growth and apoptosis through mechanisms independent of androgen control. Clinically, MSMB is a significant biomarker and tumor suppressor in prostate disease. Its expression is typically high in healthy prostate tissue but is frequently lost or significantly reduced in prostate cancer, with lower levels correlating with higher Gleason grades and advanced disease progression. Furthermore, a well-characterized promoter variant (rs10993994) is strongly associated with an increased risk of developing prostate cancer and reduced circulating MSMB levels, establishing its importance in oncology. |
