| 背景信息 | Matrix metallopeptidase 7 (MMP7), also known as matrilysin, is a zinc-dependent endopeptidase belonging to the matrix metalloproteinase (MMP) family. It is the smallest MMP, consisting of a pro-peptide and catalytic domain but lacking the hemopexin-like domain common in other MMPs. MMP7 primarily degrades extracellular matrix components such as collagen types IV and X, elastin, fibronectin, gelatin, and proteoglycans, playing essential roles in tissue remodeling, wound healing, and embryonic development. It is secreted as an inactive proenzyme and activated by proteolytic cleavage. MMP7 is regulated by growth factors and oncogenes via AP-1 and PEA-3 motifs in its promoter region. Clinically, MMP7 is implicated in various diseases, particularly cancer. Its upregulation facilitates tumor invasion and metastasis by degrading extracellular matrix barriers and activating other proteases like MMP2 and MMP9. Elevated MMP7 levels are associated with malignancies such as colorectal cancer, pancreatic cancer, and gliomas. |
