背景信息Granzyme B (GZMB) is a serine protease encoded by the GZMB gene on chromosome 14q.11.2, playing a crucial role in the immune response by inducing apoptosis in virus-infected and tumor cells. It is secreted by cytotoxic lymphocytes and enters target cells via the pore-forming protein perforin, activating caspases that trigger apoptotic pathways. GZMB has a unique substrate specificity, cleaving proteins involved in various cellular processes, including inflammation and extracellular matrix remodeling. Elevated levels of GZMB have been associated with several diseases, including cancer, where it can overcome resistance to conventional therapies.
