| 背景信息 | Leukemia inhibitory factor (LIF) is a multifunctional cytokine belonging to the interleukin-6 (IL-6) family, primarily produced by various cell types, including macrophages, fibroblasts, and neurons. LIF plays critical roles in immune regulation, neuronal survival, and reproductive processes. In the immune system, LIF has both pro-inflammatory and anti-inflammatory properties, influencing T-cell differentiation and promoting the survival of regulatory T cells, which can be beneficial in conditions such as multiple sclerosis. Dysregulation of LIF is associated with several diseases; for instance, increased LIF levels are observed in rheumatoid arthritis, contributing to chronic inflammation. Additionally, LIF is implicated in cancer, where it can promote tumor growth and metastasis by enhancing the survival of cancer cells and supporting angiogenesis. |
