| 背景信息 | Amphiregulin is a protein encoded by the AREG gene and is a member of the epidermal growth factor (EGF) family. It functions as an autocrine growth factor and mitogen for various cell types, including astrocytes, Schwann cells, and fibroblasts, by binding to and activating the EGF receptor (EGFR). AREG plays a crucial role in physiological processes such as mammary gland development, where it is essential for ductal growth, and in tissue repair, where it promotes epithelial cell turnover and enhances goblet cell activity. In the immune system, AREG is significant for T cell function, particularly enhancing the suppressive capacity of regulatory T (Treg) cells, which express EGFR under inflammatory conditions. This protein is also implicated in pathological conditions, including various cancers, where its overexpression is associated with tumor growth and metastasis, and in inflammatory diseases like psoriasis and rheumatoid arthritis. |
