| 背景信息 | Inter-alpha-trypsin inhibitor heavy chain 1 (ITIH1) is a liver-derived, secreted glycoprotein that serves as a core component of the inter-alpha-trypsin inhibitor (IαI) complex. It plays a critical role in extracellular matrix stabilization by covalently linking to hyaluronan (HA) via a chondroitin sulfate-bearing light chain. This ITIH1-HA complex is essential for tissue repair, inflammation, and reproductive processes such as ovulation. ITIH1 also supports cell adhesion through interactions with vitronectin and fibronectin. Clinically, elevated ITIH1 levels are associated with systemic insulin resistance, as its deposition on HA around adipose and muscle tissues creates a physical barrier to insulin signaling.
