| 背景信息 | Neutrophil cytosolic factor 2 (NCF2) is a 67-kilodalton cytosolic protein encoded by the NCF2 gene located on chromosome 1 in humans. It functions as a critical subunit of the multi-protein NADPH oxidase complex found in neutrophils, mediating the transfer of electrons from cytosolic NADPH to molecular oxygen to produce superoxide anions. This process generates a respiratory burst that delivers superoxide to the lumen of neutrophil phagosomes, playing an essential role in the immune response against pathogens. Mutations in NCF2 can result in chronic granulomatous disease, characterized by impaired neutrophil function and recurrent infections. Additionally, certain genetic variations in NCF2 have been associated with increased risk of systemic lupus erythematosus, an autoimmune disorder. These variants are thought to impair NADPH oxidase function, reducing reactive oxygen species production and triggering an overactive immune response that may attack the body's own tissues and organs. |
