| 背景信息 | Parvalbumin (Parvalbumin) is a small, acidic calcium-binding protein belonging to the EF-hand superfamily. Characterized by a compact globular structure with two functional calcium-binding sites, it primarily functions as a slow-onset calcium buffer. In fast-contracting skeletal muscles, parvalbumin accelerates relaxation by sequestering calcium ions and shuttling them to the sarcoplasmic reticulum. Within the central nervous system, it is expressed in specific GABAergic interneurons where it regulates synaptic transmission and contributes to the generation of gamma oscillations. The beta isoform, oncomodulin, is essential for maintaining auditory function in cochlear and vestibular hair cells. Clinically, parvalbumin deficiency is associated with hearing loss and impaired muscle relaxation kinetics. |
