| 背景信息 | Glutathione S-transferase mu 3 (GSTM3) is a cytosolic phase II detoxification enzyme belonging to the mu class of glutathione S-transferases. It catalyzes the conjugation of reduced glutathione to a wide array of endogenous and exogenous hydrophobic electrophiles, including environmental toxins, therapeutic drugs, and products of oxidative stress. Structurally, GSTM3 functions as a dimer with a canonical thioredoxin fold, featuring distinct glutathione-binding and hydrophobic substrate-binding sites. By neutralizing reactive species, it plays a vital role in xenobiotic metabolism and cellular redox homeostasis. Clinically, genetic polymorphisms and altered expression levels of GSTM3 are associated with increased susceptibility to various malignancies, most notably hepatocellular carcinoma and pancreatic cancer, reflecting its importance in detoxifying carcinogens and modulating the cellular response to chemical stress. |
