| 背景信息 | Cyclin C (CCNC) is a member of the cyclin family that functions as a key component of the Mediator complex, a coactivator essential for the regulated transcription of nearly all RNA polymerase II-dependent genes. It primarily acts by binding to and activating cyclin-dependent kinase 8 (CDK8). This complex phosphorylates the carboxy-terminal domain of the large subunit of RNA polymerase II, a modification that can inhibit the formation of the transcription initiation complex. CCNC expression levels typically peak during the G1 phase of the cell cycle, and the protein is known to interact with estrogen receptor alpha to modulate signaling. Clinically, mutations or dysregulation of CCNC are associated with specific ocular conditions, most notably North Carolina-type macular dystrophy and other forms of retinal macular dystrophy. |
