| 背景信息 | Homeobox D9 (HOXD9) is a sequence-specific transcription factor belonging to the highly conserved homeobox gene family. It plays a fundamental role in morphogenesis by providing cells with specific positional identities along the anterior-posterior axis during embryonic development. HOXD9 is particularly essential for proper limb patterning and skeletal morphogenesis, where precise gene dosage is critical for normal formation. Beyond its developmental functions, HOXD9 acts as a DNA-binding regulator of genes involved in cell proliferation and invasion. Clinically, genetic alterations in the HOXD9 region are linked to congenital malformations such as synpolydactyly and developmental dysplasia of the hip. Additionally, HOXD9 is frequently overexpressed in various malignancies, including melanoma, glioma, and ovarian carcinoma, where it promotes tumor progression, metastasis, and aggressive cellular behavior. |
