| 背景信息 | Serpin family B member 1 (SERPINB1) is a cytoplasmic protein belonging to the serpin superfamily that functions as a suicide inhibitor of neutrophil serine proteases, including elastase, cathepsin G, and proteinase-3. It plays a vital role in regulating innate immunity and limiting tissue damage by protecting cells from proteases released during infection or inflammation. Upon protease cleavage at its reactive site loop, SERPINB1 undergoes a conformational change that can also unveil endonuclease activity. The protein contains nuclear localization and export signals that control its translocation and activity. Highly expressed in granulocytes and macrophages, SERPINB1 supports neutrophil homeostasis and survival. Additionally, it has been shown to inhibit inflammatory caspases and granzyme H, further contributing to its role in modulating inflammatory responses and cell migration during wound healing. |
