| 背景信息 | Aldehyde dehydrogenase 1 family member B1 (ALDH1B1) is a mitochondrial NAD-dependent oxidoreductase that plays a critical role in the major oxidative pathway of ethanol metabolism. It catalyzes the irreversible oxidation of various aldehydes, most notably acetaldehyde, into their corresponding carboxylic acids, thereby contributing to cellular detoxification and redox homeostasis. As a key enzyme in phase I and II biotransformation, ALDH1B1 is involved in broader metabolic and protein metabolism pathways. Genetic variations in the ALDH1B1 locus are associated with interindividual susceptibility to alcohol-related disorders. Clinically, the role of ALDH1B1 in acetaldehyde detoxification suggests its relevance to alcohol-induced organ damage and carcinogenesis, as well as potential links to mitochondrial diseases and certain forms of epilepsy. |
