| 背景信息 | Olfactory marker protein (OMP) is a highly conserved cytoplasmic protein expressed almost exclusively in mature olfactory sensory neurons. Structurally characterized by a modified beta-clamshell fold, OMP serves as a key modulator of the olfactory signal-transduction cascade. It functions upstream of cAMP production to regulate odorant receptor activity and G protein signaling, thereby sharpening odorant response profiles and quickening response kinetics. OMP is also essential for proper axonal targeting in the olfactory bulb and helps maintain the dynamic response range of olfactory neurons by suppressing responses at low odorant concentrations. By facilitating cellular repolarization, OMP acts as a molecular switch that enables neurons to fire reliably during successive stimulations, ensuring accurate concentration encoding and sensory perception. |
