| 背景信息 | Karyopherin subunit alpha 1 (KPNA1) is a member of the importin alpha family that serves as a critical adapter in the nuclear protein import pathway. It functions by specifically recognizing and binding to classical nuclear localization signals (NLS) on cargo proteins in the cytoplasm. Once bound, KPNA1 recruits importin beta (KPNB1) to form a transport complex that docks at the nuclear pore complex. This process facilitates the Ran-GTP-dependent translocation of proteins into the nucleus. Structurally, KPNA1 is characterized by armadillo repeats that mediate its diverse protein-protein interactions. It plays essential roles in various cellular processes, including mRNA transport and the lifecycle of certain viruses, by ensuring the proper nuclear localization of regulatory and structural proteins. |
