| 背景信息 | Inhibin subunit beta C (INHBC) encodes the inhibin beta C chain, a member of the TGF-beta superfamily that is proteolytically processed to form homodimeric and heterodimeric activin or inhibin complexes. These complexes are essential regulators of the hypothalamic-pituitary-gonadal axis, specifically modulating the secretion of follicle-stimulating hormone from the pituitary gland. INHBC participates in diverse physiological processes, including germ cell maturation, erythroid differentiation, insulin secretion, and bone growth, often by opposing activin-mediated functions. It also modulates myostatin signaling to influence muscle strength and interacts with TGF-beta receptors to facilitate growth factor activity. Clinically, INHBC is associated with metabolic regulation of serum urate levels and gout risk. Its dysregulation is observed in diabetic nephropathy, where it promotes proinflammatory cytokine production, and in various malignancies, including colorectal cancer and non-small cell lung cancer, where it contributes to immune evasion and metastatic progression. |
