| 背景信息 | SRY-box transcription factor 10 (SOX10) is a nuclear transcription factor essential for the specification, migration, and differentiation of neural crest-derived lineages, including melanocytes and Schwann cells. It contains a high-mobility group (HMG) domain that binds to specific DNA consensus motifs, functioning as both a monomer and a dimer. SOX10 acts as a nucleocytoplasmic shuttle protein and regulates gene expression by cooperating with other transcription factors such as Pax3, FoxD3, and Krox20. Mutations in the SOX10 gene are well-established causes of neurocristopathies, including Waardenburg syndrome and Hirschsprung disease. Additionally, its expression is often correlated with stem cell identity and invasive characteristics in various tumors, making it a significant marker in developmental biology and oncology. |
