| 背景信息 | SRY-box transcription factor 8 (SOX8) is a member of the SOX family of transcription factors, closely related to SOX9 and SOX10, that regulates development and adult tissue homeostasis. It contains a conserved high-mobility group (HMG) domain for DNA binding and transactivation domains that enable the regulation of target genes involved in chondrogenesis, myelin maintenance, and Sertoli cell function. SOX8 maintains the integrity of the blood-testis barrier and skeletal muscle development by binding to the promoter regions of genes such as Claudin-3 and Gja1. Mutations in SOX8 are associated with male infertility, peripheral demyelinating neuropathy, and neurocristopathies like Waardenburg syndrome and Hirschsprung disease. In cancer contexts, aberrant SOX8 expression promotes tumor progression and chemoresistance in malignancies such as non-small cell lung cancer and triple-negative breast cancer. |
