| 背景信息 | Poly(rC) binding protein 4 (PCBP4), also known as MCG10, is an RNA-binding protein (RBP) that belongs to the poly(C)-binding protein family. It plays a critical role in post-transcriptional regulation by binding to C-rich regions of RNA, particularly in the 3'-UTR of target transcripts such as p21. PCBP4 is induced by the tumor suppressor p53 and functions to regulate cell cycle arrest and apoptosis, primarily at the G₂-M phase. It achieves this by modulating mRNA stability, as seen in its suppression of p21 expression under both basal and stress-induced conditions. PCBP4 also interacts with other RBPs to coordinate gene expression during cellular stress responses. Deficiency in PCBP4 has been linked to increased susceptibility to cancers, including lung adenocarcinoma and lymphoma. This is partly due to its role in regulating tumor-related pathways, such as stabilizing p53 by targeting ZFP871, a protein that promotes p53 degradation. |
