| 背景信息 | Regulator of G protein signaling 8 (RGS8) is a cytosolic GTPase-activating protein (GAP) that negatively regulates GPCR signaling by accelerating the hydrolysis of GTP on G-alpha-i/o and G-alpha-q subunits. It contains a conserved RGS domain that selectively binds activated G-alpha subunits to terminate signaling cascades downstream of receptors such as muscarinic and dopamine receptors. RGS8 is predominantly expressed in the brain, particularly the cerebellum, suggesting a role in neuronal signaling modulation. While specific monogenic diseases are not well-established, its expression patterns link it to neurological functions and potential involvement in spinocerebellar ataxia pathways. |
