| 背景信息 | RNA binding motif protein 3 (RBM3) is a highly conserved, cold-inducible RNA-binding protein that enhances global protein synthesis and cell survival under conditions of stress, such as hypothermia and hypoxia. It contains an N-terminal RNA recognition motif and a C-terminal arginine-glycine-rich domain that facilitate its interaction with target mRNAs to increase their stability. RBM3 regulates cell cycle progression and stemness, often through the β-catenin signaling pathway. While it is ubiquitously expressed and plays a neuroprotective role in the developing brain, it also functions as a proto-oncogene in various malignancies. High expression levels of RBM3 are associated with tumor progression and metastasis, yet they also serve as a favorable prognostic marker in cancers such as colorectal, ovarian, and testicular germ cell tumors. |
