| 背景信息 | Chitobiase (CTBS) is a lysosomal exoglycosidase that plays a critical role in the ordered degradation of N-linked glycoproteins. As a di-N-acetylchitobiase, it specifically cleaves the N-acetyl-beta-D-glucosamine(1-4)N-acetylglucosamine chitobiose core from the reducing end following the action of glycosylasparaginase. The enzyme localizes to the lysosomal compartment where it exhibits hydrolase and chitinase activities toward chitobiose and chitin-oligosaccharides, ultimately generating N-acetylglucosamine. Through these activities, CTBS contributes to essential lysosomal carbohydrate catabolism and the turnover of cellular glycoproteins. |
