| 背景信息 | Fatty acid binding protein 9 (FABP9) is a small, cytosolic lipid-binding protein that belongs to the FABP family. It is characterized by a conserved beta-barrel architecture that enables the high-affinity binding and trafficking of long-chain fatty acids and other hydrophobic ligands. Predominantly expressed in the testis, with additional presence in the salivary and mammary glands, FABP9 is involved in sperm maturation and glandular lipid metabolism. It contributes to intracellular fatty acid transport and energy homeostasis. Clinically, FABP9 has been identified as a potential prognostic marker in prostate cancer, as it is frequently upregulated in malignant tissues. Higher levels of FABP9 correlate with increased tumor cell invasiveness and poorer clinical outcomes, suggesting its utility as a biomarker for disease progression. |
