| 背景信息 | ELAV like RNA binding protein 2 (ELAVL2) is a neuron-specific member of the ELAV family of RNA-binding proteins that primarily localizes to the cytoplasm. It contains three RNA recognition motifs that enable high-affinity binding to AU-rich elements in the 3' untranslated regions of target mRNAs, facilitating post-transcriptional regulation such as mRNA stabilization, translation enhancement, and alternative splicing. ELAVL2 is essential for maintaining neuronal excitability and coordinating synaptic functions through its interactions with proteins like RBFOX1 and FMR1. Beyond the nervous system, it plays a critical role in the reproductive system, where it interacts with DAZL and DDX6 to regulate spermatogonial stem cell proliferation and oocyte quiescence.
