| 背景信息 | ADP-ribosyltransferase 3 (inactive) (ART3) is a membrane-anchored protein belonging to the ADP-ribosyltransferase family. Although it contains a characteristic ART domain and shares structural similarity with other ARH family members, ART3 is classified as enzymatically inactive because it lacks significant hydrolytic activity toward ADP-ribosylated substrates. It functions as an integral membrane protein anchored to the plasma membrane via a glycosylphosphatidylinositol (GPI) anchor. The protein has a molecular weight of approximately 39 kDa. While its catalytically active counterparts transfer ADP-ribose from NAD+ onto substrate proteins, the specific biological roles of ART3 remain distinct, likely involving structural or regulatory functions within the membrane environment of specialized tissues such as the testis. |
