| 背景信息 | Eukaryotic translation initiation factor 4E-binding protein 1 (EIF4EBP1), also known as 4E-BP1, is a key regulator of protein synthesis that inhibits cap-dependent translation by binding to the translation initiation factor eIF4E. This interaction prevents the formation of the eIF4F complex, essential for mRNA translation initiation. EIF4EBP1 is phosphorylated in response to various signals, particularly those from the mechanistic target of rapamycin (mTOR) pathway, leading to its dissociation from eIF4E and subsequent activation of translation. Dysregulation of EIF4EBP1 has been linked to several diseases, particularly cancers; high levels of phosphorylated 4E-BP1 are often associated with poor outcomes in malignancies such as glioblastoma and breast cancer. Additionally, its expression is influenced by oncogenic signaling pathways, which can promote tumorigenesis. |
