| 背景信息 | Collagen type IX alpha 2 chain (COL9A2) is a structural component of hyaline cartilage that functions as a bridging molecule, connecting type II collagen fibrils with other extracellular matrix components. It is a member of the FACIT (fibril-associated collagens with interrupted triple helices) family and is unique for carrying a covalently attached glycosaminoglycan side chain. As part of a heterotrimeric molecule, COL9A2 facilitates cell adhesion through interactions with integrin receptors and maintains the mechanical integrity of the cartilage matrix. Mutations in the COL9A2 gene are specifically associated with skeletal dysplasias, most notably multiple epiphyseal dysplasia (MED) and Stickler syndrome type V, highlighting its essential role in proper bone development and joint maintenance. |
