| 背景信息 | Nidogen 2 (NID2) is a secreted glycoprotein that serves as a critical structural component of basement membranes. It functions as a cell-adhesion linker, bridging key extracellular matrix (ECM) molecules such as laminin, collagen IV, and perlecan to maintain basement membrane architecture. NID2 is widely distributed, with significant enrichment in endothelial matrices, where it facilitates ECM-cell interactions. Clinically, NID2 is associated with congenital myasthenic syndrome type 19 and has been identified as a potential tumor suppressor that is frequently silenced by promoter methylation in various cancers. In the vascular system, NID2 is essential for maintaining the contractile phenotype of vascular smooth muscle cells by potentiating Jagged1-Notch3 signaling, thereby playing a role in restraining neointima formation and atherosclerosis. |
