| 背景信息 | Desmoglein-2 (DSG2) is a calcium-dependent transmembrane glycoprotein belonging to the cadherin family, serving as a crucial component of desmosomal junctions that mediate strong cell-cell adhesion in epithelial tissues and cardiomyocytes. Structurally, DSG2 is a 160 kDa protein with a 560 amino acid extracellular domain containing four cadherin repeats, a 25 amino acid transmembrane segment, and a 484 amino acid cytoplasmic domain with six desmoglein repeats. It is the only desmoglein isoform expressed in cardiomyocytes and is essential for maintaining the integrity of epithelial barriers and cardiac tissue, particularly at intercalated discs in the heart. DSG2 can also act as a receptor for certain adenovirus serotypes and fatty acid binding proteins, and its extracellular domain can be shed in response to cellular signals. Mutations in DSG2 are associated with diseases such as arrhythmogenic right ventricular cardiomyopathy and familial dilated cardiomyopathy. |
