| 背景信息 | Clusterin like 1 (CLUL1) is a secreted protein that shares structural homology with clusterin (CLU) and is predicted to possess molecular chaperone properties. Unlike the ubiquitously expressed clusterin, CLUL1 exhibits a highly restricted expression pattern, localized primarily to retinal cone photoreceptors. This specificity suggests a specialized role in phototransduction, cone maintenance, and the regulation of extracellular homeostasis within the retina. Functionally, CLUL1 is proposed to participate in protein quality control, ensuring the integrity of the retinal proteome. Although direct biochemical data remain limited, its expression profile indicates it is essential for the specialized physiological requirements of cone cells.
