| 背景信息 | Vimentin type intermediate filament associated coiled-coil protein (VMAC) is a conserved coiled-coil protein that specifically associates with type III intermediate filaments, most notably vimentin. Localized predominantly to the cytoplasm in vimentin-positive cells, VMAC was originally identified in the podocytes of the kidney. It functions by decorating vimentin filaments, where it is thought to contribute to the organization of the cytoskeleton and the maintenance of cellular morphology. Although its precise regulatory mechanisms are still being elucidated, its specific interaction with vimentin suggests a specialized role in stabilizing intermediate filament networks and supporting the structural integrity of diverse cell types. |
