| 背景信息 | Metaxin 3 (MTX3) is a ubiquitously expressed protein localized to the mitochondrial outer membrane, where it functions as a component of the sorting and assembly machinery (SAM/MIB complex). It contains metaxin/Sam37 and glutathione S-transferase-like domains and plays a key role in the import of proteins into the mitochondria and the overall organization of the organelle. Through these activities, MTX3 contributes to mitochondrial homeostasis and cellular energy metabolism. It is a paralog of MTX1 and is expressed across a wide range of human tissues. While MTX3 is essential for mitochondrial structural integrity, its direct causal links to specific human diseases remain under investigation. |
