| 背景信息 | Chromosome 6 open reading frame 163 (C6orf163) is a 38 kDa protein characterized by a conserved long alpha-helical region and a leucine zipper motif, suggesting roles in dimerization and DNA binding typical of transcription factors. It contains a nuclear localization signal and undergoes various post-translational modifications, including phosphorylation and ubiquitination. C6orf163 localizes to both the nucleus and cytoplasm and interacts with DRC6, a component of the SCF ubiquitin ligase complex that regulates ciliary motility. The protein is expressed at low levels across most tissues, with peak expression observed in the testes and during early fetal development. Clinically, single nucleotide polymorphisms near the C6orf163 locus have been associated with susceptibility to bipolar disorder and the frequency of manic or depressive episodes. It has also been linked to rare neurodevelopmental conditions such as pontocerebellar hypoplasia type 6. |
