| 背景信息 | Mex-3 RNA binding family member C (MEX3C) is a multifunctional RNA-binding E3 ubiquitin-protein ligase that plays a key role in post-transcriptional regulation. It features two N-terminal K-homology (KH) domains for specific mRNA recognition and a C-terminal RING-finger domain that enables its ubiquitin ligase activity. MEX3C shuttles between the nucleus and cytoplasm to regulate the stability and translation of various targets, including HLA-A alleles, IGF1, and BCL2. It also modulates innate immunity by ubiquitinating RIG-I to enhance antiviral responses. Structurally, its KH domains form specialized clefts that grip adenine and guanine bases within target mRNA motifs. Clinically, MEX3C is associated with the regulation of blood pressure, and polymorphisms in the gene have been linked to hypertension. Additionally, its roles in suppressing chromosomal instability suggest involvement in carcinogenesis. |
