| 背景信息 | Sterile alpha motif domain containing 13 (SAMD13) is a protein-coding gene that encodes a cytoplasmic protein characterized by a sterile alpha motif (SAM) domain. This domain facilitates diverse protein-protein interactions, chromatin and histone binding, and the negative regulation of transcription, potentially through sequence-specific DNA binding. SAMD13 is most abundantly expressed in the gastrointestinal tract and lacks signal peptides or transmembrane regions. In clinical contexts, SAMD13 is frequently upregulated in various malignancies, including hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC), breast invasive carcinoma, and lung adenocarcinoma. Its expression levels correlate significantly with poor prognosis in HCC, where it is associated with shorter overall survival, disease-specific survival, and progression-free intervals. Consequently, SAMD13 is recognized as a potential prognostic biomarker and therapeutic target in cancers linked to cell cycle dysregulation and epigenetic modifications. |
