| 背景信息 | Lactase like (LCTL) is a member of the family 1 glycosidases, a group of enzymes typically involved in the hydrolysis of glycosidic bonds. The human LCTL protein is a transmembrane glycoprotein featuring an N-terminal signal peptide and a glycosidase domain. Although it lacks one of the conserved glutamic acid residues essential for classical catalysis, it retains the ability to hydrolyze O-glycosyl compounds. The precise physiological substrates and enzymatic mechanisms of LCTL remain under investigation, but it is known to be expressed in various tissues including the ocular lens. Clinically, LCTL is associated with presbyopia, an age-related loss of near-focusing ability caused by increased lens stiffness. It is also linked to primary failure of tooth eruption, a condition characterized by the delayed or absent eruption of permanent teeth. |
