| 背景信息 | Scavenger receptor class A member 5 (SCARA5) is a cell surface protein. It forms a disulfide-linked homotrimer exceeding 250 kDa and is primarily expressed in testicular Sertoli and germ cells, with weaker expression in other epithelial tissues. Functionally, SCARA5 acts as a ferritin receptor mediating non-transferrin-dependent iron delivery by stimulating ferritin endocytosis, thus playing a critical role in intracellular iron homeostasis. It also binds bacterial particles but not yeast or modified LDL. SCARA5 is a positive regulator of adipocyte lineage commitment and early adipogenesis in mesenchymal stem cells, modulating differentiation through the FAK-ERK signaling pathway and glucocorticoid-induced expression. In disease contexts, SCARA5 suppresses proliferation and migration and promotes apoptosis in human retinoblastoma cells by inhibiting the PI3K/AKT pathway, suggesting a tumor suppressor role. Its dysregulation may impact cancer progression and metabolic disorders linked to iron metabolism and adipogenesis. |
