| 背景信息 | Activity regulated cytoskeleton associated protein (ARC) is a critical regulator of synaptic plasticity, learning, and memory formation. It maintains neuronal homeostasis by promoting the endocytosis of AMPA receptors in response to synaptic activity, thereby modulating long-term potentiation and depression. Uniquely, ARC assembles into virus-like capsids that package its own mRNA, facilitating the intercellular transfer of genetic material via extracellular vesicles. ARC is primarily associated with neurological conditions where its dysfunction contributes to cognitive decline. In Alzheimer’s disease, impaired ARC expression is linked to amyloid-beta pathogenesis, while genetic variants and expression imbalances are also implicated in autism spectrum disorders, schizophrenia, and epilepsy. |
